Kim Bady, Ground Zero Mosque

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

As an African American, Christian woman I am aware of the sterotypes that continue to divide people. Unfortunately, when we look at a group of people our mind will immediately judge and label them. Whites are often times pre-judged as racist. Blacks are often pre-judged as criminals and Muslims are pre-judged as extremists and terrorists.

Having the Mosque near ground zero should not be the issue. I think to interfere, would put our rights as American citizens in jeopardy of practicing our religion freely. If it were a church or synagogue it would not be an issue at all. Like many who fear the funds will come from terrorist,I believe this should be closely monitored. But to see a mosque and to immediately think terrorist is a mindset that will forever divide us and will forever perpetuate hate.
